    Abstract
The measurement of invasive arterial pressure (IAP) is a tool that allows continuous assessment of the he- modynamic status of the critical neonatal patient. Un- like non-invasive measurement, with this modality a heartbeat measurement can be obtained, without the need to stimulate the patient. This is a useful, effective and easy to use instrument once the circuit is placed. It is important to understand that monitoring is not therapeutic and must be accompanied by a clinical re- asoning of the health team. This article explains the principles, operation, assem- bly of the circuit and nursing care to a newborn that requires monitoring of IAP.
