    Abstract
Oxygen is a drug used very frequently during the neo- natal period, but it has adverse effects related to its inadequate administration. These are greater when their administration is not controlled, even when the exposure is for a short time. The safe dose, to adapt the administration to the patient’s needs, is very nar- row and represents a challenge for the health teams. The objective of this article is to review the literature on the desired saturation recommendations for new- borns who receive supplemental oxygen, in any form, during neonatal hospitalization and after the period immediately after birth, as there are controversies. It is not the intention of this article to analyze the ex- pected values immediately at birth.
