The perinatal death of a twin is a dramatic expe- rience and a traumatic impact for parental psyche. The mourning for the death of a twin carries a special com- plexity since the mother and the father are exposed to an extremely demanding psychic task: to start the mourning for the death of one of the babies and, at the same time, to have available libido to catectize the other child, often premature and life-threatening, and begin to build a loving bond. Despite the high potential for medium and long-term emotional commitment that this experience has for families and even for the bond with the baby who will go with them home, there are still few publications on experiences of psychosocial approach in the hospital. This article refers to parental experiences, the com- plexity of mourning and the need that the members of the perinatal and neonatal health teams have trai- ning regarding the psychosocial dimension of death at the beginning of life. Thus, they can provide fam- ilies a sensitive and necessarily interdisciplinary ac- companiment, articulated in the particularity of each subjectivity, in order to prevent and/or minimize the traumatic effects for parental psyche and protect the relationship with the child from dysfunctionalities, in the medium and long term.en_US
